Biography - John R. Manoush

Food Industry Experience
  • 7 years as a food safety consultant. Have worked for both large and small companies in training, auditing and food safety program development or improvement.
  • 27 years as Quality Assurance and R&D Manager for nationally known low-acid canned foods manufacturer (B&M Baked Beans).  Parent companies have been B&G Foods, The Pillsbury Company, Pet, Inc., and The Wm. Underwood Company.
  • 2 years in analysis of meat products for Armour and Company
  • 2 years as Quality Assurance Specialist, with emphasis on development of specifications and procedures as well as co-packer audits.
  • Experience with a variety of products including canned beans, bakery, acidified foods, canned sardines, sauces and preserves, cured meats, canned meats, and dry seasonings.
  • Over 7 years as a HACCP leader.  Thoroughly familiar with FDA low-acid regulations and AIB guidelines for sanitation and GMP’s. Has done recent work in hazard analysis with respect to prevention of terrorist attacks on our food production system.

Education
  • M.S. in Food Technology from the University of Massachusetts
  • Completed numerous industry and university courses including HACCP, Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiments, Sanitation and Pest Control, Team Building and Public Speaking.

  • SQF (Safe Quality Food) Certified Consultant (2009).
  • Emeritus member of Institute of Food Technologists.
  • American Society for Quality Member; Completed certifications for Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) and HACCP auditor (CQA-HACCP).
  • Instructor for FDA-approved Better Process Control School at the University of Maine.
  • Certified HACCP team leader for the Pillsbury Company, pioneer in development of the HACCP system.
  • Volunteer member of advisory board for agriculture and forestry to the Maine Technology Institute, a state agency that provides financial assistance to businesses which employ promising new technologies.
